Remarks: A huge "party" spot on summer holiday
weekends, many people young and old people alike gather on a huge sandbar deep in the
"Gorge at George". With 300+ foot weather withered cliffs on either side, riding
along this stretch of the river is spectacular to say the least. The Cascades rise up to
the west that contrast off of the rolling hills and farm lands to the east like two alien
worlds merging. High winds are an everyday deal there so make sure you prepare for that,
not only does it get a little brisk, the wave chop can become overwealming. Don't let this
discourage anyone form the trip, it only lasted for 45 minutes then went back to dead calm
and glass flat water. In our few hours at this location we saw everything from party
barges to go-go girl boats complete with disco balls! A helicopter from the local army
base soon made an appearance to get the party goers riled up with about 5 minutes of
areobatics was a definate highlight of the day.
